Notes

Orange region sauvignon blanc is quite distinctive and Orange is one of Australia’s leading region for the variety. This wine exhibits unmistakable sauvignon blanc aroma and flavour. Intense, lifted fruit in the passionfruit, floral, citrus spectrum with a cut grass edge to it. But a few winemaking techniques have added to the mid-palate weight and texture. Balanced acidity provides freshness and length. The extra maturation time has done wonders by avoiding shrill acidity and enhancing depth of flavour.

Comment

Light straw-green; a fragrant bouquet and juicy palate neatly straddle grass, citrus and tropical flavours. An attractive wine.

Notes

French Alsatian ‘gris’ is the target style as opposed to the Italian ‘grigio’. Harvesting for ripe fruit flavours such as pear and peach. Multiple batches are created to undergo different treatments in the winery. Some are reductively handled juice, others oxidatively handled, some old barrel ferment, some malolactic ferment, lees stirring and pressings are included for richness.

Cellar for 5 years | 14.0% Alc. | 8.3 Std Drinks

Comment

One hundred percent estate grown; some mlf, oak and lees are used to build texture and complexity and does succeed. There is the full gambit of pear, peach and spice in the wine.

Notes

This is not a big style of chardonnay. Having said that there are some generous, ripe fruit flavours and the subtle influence of oak and other winemaking techniques. A lactic mid-palate adds texture, lively natural acidity maintains freshness. It’s the style of chardonnay to win back those drinkers that got tired of big, rich, oaky chardonnays.

Comment

Part barrel-, part tank- fermented; part wild yeast, part cultured yeast; partial mlf; fine lees and stirring. It’s a very complex and attractive wine, it’s fruit running from grapefruit to stone fruit, the oak balanced, the length admirable.

Notes

Unlike a lot of merlots, there is good aromatic intensity in a wine with plenty of character. Ripe fruit shows red berries, cassis, a hint of floral, almost turkish delight & subtle cedar from oak maturation. A firm structure with fine tannins carry the flavours through to the finish. The balance is spot-on allowing for immediate enjoyment. Distinctly varietal.

Cellar for 5 years | 14.5% Alc. | 8.6 Std Drinks

Sourced entirely from estate grown fruit. Printhie has new generation clones 8R and Q45-14. These produce distinctive varietal flavours with greater intensity.

Notes

From a warmer vintage, this is a fragrant wine. Subdued spice along with some juicy red verging on black berry fruit. Complexity is showing through background cedary oak, chocolate and earthiness. Mid-palate richness is building with time. Tannins are long, fine and quite approachable allowing early drinking or the chance of developing greater complexity with time in the cellar.

Medium-bodied as is typical of the Orange region.

Notes

Fruit, oak and earthiness all compete for aromatic attention. Therefore there is a good level of complexity. The fruit profile is distinctively cabernet with blackcurrant, red berries, choc-mint, a hint of leaf. The oak is cedary with some toast and vanilla. Tannins, often more forceful in cabernet than other varieties, have a lovely sense of balance. They are dry and carry the flavour down the palate.

Cellar for 8 years | 14.0% Alc. | 8.3 Std Drinks

Comment

Sourced entirely from estate grown fruit. We find cabernet ripens very nicely at these lower elevations. We get full, ripe flavours that retain distinctive cooler grown varietal characteristics.
